Primary Purpose
- The Plate Ultrasonic Level III position in the plate department owns the plate responsibilities with ultrasonically testing aluminum plate to various aerospace specifications. Along with these responsibilities, this person shall have a strong background with other NDT processes, i.e. Visual, Eddy Current. Help optimize performance, maximize material recovery, eliminate process waste and improve productivity. This position also maintains the quality systems requirement for plate path and customer quality satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities
- Have the skill and knowledge to interpret codes, standards and other contractual documents that are associated with ultrasonic testing.
- Be capable of assuming technical responsibilities for Ultrasonic Testing.
- Be capable of preparing technical data sheets and procedures associated with ultrasonic testing.
- Thoroughly review and approve ultrasonic procedures.
- Have a general knowledge of other NDT disciplines, therefore being able to share this knowledge with other APU throughout the plant.
- Have a general understanding of aerospace ultrasonic inspection requirements.
- Be capable to leading an ultrasonic training class, examination, and certification of personnel.
- Maintain and improve NDT processes to enhance performance, process efficiency and material recovery.
- Ensure full Compliance to NADCAP, Society and Customer specifications for NDT.
- Ensure customer quality satisfaction by managing customer claims and CAR
- Benchmark within the Industry and sister facilities to ensure site maintains processes in compliance to customer needs and at best practice levels.
- When required, be able to audit outside agency to ensure the requirements of a written practice is being fully adhered.
- Certified as ASNT UT Level III or capable of passing an NAS examination.
Technical Competencies
- Bachelors of Science in Metallurgy/Materials Science/Engineering preferred
- NDT/UT level III certification preferred
- 3 years’ experience in Manufacturing preferably in Aluminum industry is preferred

Job Dimensions
The Ravenswood operation is 24/7, there is an expectation of off-shift work from time to time as required by production or projects priorities.
It is expected that 40% of the time will be spent on the floor observing, auditing, and communicating to crews. About 30% of the time will be spent collecting and analysing data. The remaining time shall be spent in meetings, communicating, and reporting.
